Silsden Sports Club Camping in Yorkshire is a fully equipped pop up campsite specifically created in 2014 for the Tour de France Grand Départ and so successful we have decided to offer it again for the Tour De Yorkshire in 2015.
A fully marshalled well organised site with a happy team in place to make sure the camping runs smoothly and we understand that time away for British folk is of utmost importance. Our holidays mean a lot to most of us.
We can host tents of all shapes and sizes, caravans and campervans with ease. With good facilities to support the jolly campers, licenced bar, big screen TV, play areas, Free WiFi device charging points (plug sockets) and much more.
Silsden itself is a lovely town (aren’t they all) in West Yorkshire, England. It lies on the northern slope of the Aire river valley between Keighley and Skipton.
It is about 0.25km from the winding river Aire. Along the lower edge of the village is the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. There are shops, cafes, pubs and plenty to do for the keen visitor.
While Silsden has its name attached to a railway station, Steeton and Silsden this is 1km from the village. Even so the station is well patronised as serves the cities of Leeds and Bradford. With modern electric trains it is well used by commuters.
Lying between Keighley and Ilkley, Silsden is well served by buses to both of these towns.
The Reason for Silsden Camping
Silsden AFC are a local sports club that are always trying to grow the club and when the Tour de France announced they would be holding the Grand Départ section of their race to pass right next to the club – they decided to raise some funds by holding a pop up camp site.
They have some very experienced campers, caravaners and event organisers who carefully planned the site to make sure all our visitors have a great time and remember us as somewhere they would return to, as the Tour De Yorkshire.
The site pitches have been carefully planned out to assure our customers have plenty of space creating a friendly and relaxing environment.
The Cycle Race
Once again Yorkshire is in excited anticipation of the start of the inaugural Tour De Yorkshire. It is a massive deal for the area and every town, village and city is doing its own creative thing to make the most of the occasion.
Silsden will be adopting the red Tulip of Holland as its theme, the start of the 2015 Tour De France Grand Depart.
Lucky visitors for this new annual event can be assured it will be a resounding success and it will be remember for some time to come.
Everywhere you look on the route through Yorkshire, people are creating things.
