Curious About Bradford is a pair of self-guided walks with a treasure hunt theme – looping around the better-known sights, as well as some of the more unusual and quirky ones, which combined make Bradford a vibrant place to explore!
First Walk: National Media Museum to Little Germany (1.5 miles)
From the magnificent National Media Museum this walk takes you past the celebrated Alhambra Theatre to the imposing City Hall via City Park - a brilliant multi-award winning public space incorporating the largest urban water feature in the UK! Now twist around Bradford’s oldest streets, before eventually arriving at Little Germany, an architectural gem in Bradford’s crown.
Second Walk: Little Germany to Bradford Cathedral (1 mile)
Time now to explore Little Germany, a fascinating area of Bradford’s history, with many majestic buildings made from finest Yorkshire stone, with ornate architectural features and decorative masonry - the largest group of Listed buildings in the country. End your walk at a stunning cathedral set in tranquil gardens – a hidden jewel just waiting to be discovered.
Each booklet gives you everything you need - detailed directions, maps, clues (with answers if needed!), and fascinating stories about Bradford’s history. We also provide ideas for other attractions and things to see and do along the way.
If you're naturally inquisitive (we would say curious...), and like having fun, both walks are immensely entertaining – but if you want to ensure you capture everything around you, just add in the Treasure Hunt to ramp up the fun. Follow the directions, and keep to the map! Children find them hugely enjoyable. Younger children (primary school age) should always be accompanied by an adult who will get actively involved - you can give them a specific role, eg matching pictures to clues, finding the answers, or managing the map, etc.
