Hi, my name is Steve Sutcliffe and I have lived, worked and walked all over Yorkshire for the last 60+ years! Not only is Yorkshire full of beautiful and diverse scenery but full of characters as well. Some you have heard of, the Brontes, James Cook etc. there are plenty more, like the men who built York Minster, Walter de Grey, John Thornton or Lord Fairfax, the man who saved York. There is the story of one man’s vision, back in 1699, that turned in to Castle Howard. More up to date is the story behind James Herriot, the world’s most popular vet and even more recent is the story behind “Downton Abbey”
We have all listened to stories all our lives…
Let me tell you stories of Yorkshire! We could walk round the ancient city of York, or wander the through the streets of Victorian Harrogate, the happiest place to live in UK for last 3 years!
Or one magical day out, Through Swaledale and its rugged beauty over the famous buttertubs pass to Hawes for a cheese stop. Wensleydale for more locations of “All Creatures Great and Small” and finish with a BIG white horse and “the Best view in England”
Or maybe you would like to see Castle Howard, the North York Moors, a train ride perhaps? The award winning market town of Helmsley, a perfect lunch stop. Nearby are the ruins of 2 abbeys, Rievaulx and Byland.
Or a day out discovering the background to the Bronte sisters in Haworth, what made them walk on the moors? Patricks story, from Ireland to Cambridge to Thornton then Haworth.
THE STORIES BEHIND THE SCENERY!
All done in a relaxed and friendly manner by a proper Yorkshireman, who loves dogs and his grandsons and fish and chips and black sheep ale….
