Burnby Equestrian Centre

Sport & Leisure, Adventure & Activity, Sports Venues

Burnby Equestrian Centre is a friendly, welcoming riding school and hacking centre based at the foot of the Wolds.  We are a registered centre for Pony Club, which allows anyone from the age of 4 - 25 to become a member of The Pony Club and work to achieve their badges with us.

We are situated less than a mile away from the Wolds Way at Nunburnholme and 3 miles from Pocklington. The riding school offers private and group lessons from tots to adults (4 years and beyond). We offer progression in a safe and friendly environment with excellent Instructors and superb horses and ponies. We specialise in lessons for anxious riders and nervous riders, we can also offer lessons for disabled riders as long as you can get on the horse using a mounting block.

Our lessons range from complete beginners to advanced adults and jumping. We also offer events on a regular basis as well as days out with the horses.

Our instructors have been chosen as they are kind, fun and progress their lessons without pressure, they are also BHS qualified and are accredited coaches with the British Horse Society.

"An Accredited Professional Coach meets the highest professional standards within the industry approved and accredited by The British Horse Society. As the largest professional body representing equestrian coaches globally, Accredited Professional Coaches create the benchmark for the industry."

If you fancy a change from the arena, we are able to offer a range of hacks starting with a mini adventure around our land and visiting the pond with its many residents - this ride is suitable for beginners. We are also lucky enough to be able to offer access to our own private ride across farmland and through the Woods. This hack is suitable for novices (able to walk and trot off the lead rein in the arena) through to the more adventurous rider (able to canter). However for the more adventurous, we can offer longer hacks onto the Wolds featuring spectacular views.

We are licensed by East Riding of Yorkshire Council and all of our Instructors are qualified, first aid trained and DBS cleared.

Hats and body protectors (body protectors must be worn by anyone under the age of 16) are provided free of charge plus we have a small selection of boots for use if you don't have any, so no need to buy all the kit straight away!
