Historic Site/Structure, Attraction, Garden/Environmental Attraction, Museum/Heritage/Gallery/Visitor Centre

Chatsworth, home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, has evolved through the centuries to reflect the tastes, passions and interests of 16 generations of the Cavendish family. Today Chatsworth contains works of art that span 4000 years, from ancient Roman and Egyptian sculpture, and masterpieces by Rembrandt, Reynolds and Veronese, to work by outstanding modern artists, including Lucian Freud, Edmund de Waal and David Nash.

The garden is famous for its rich history, historic and modern waterworks and sculptures, the Victorian rock garden and the maze. Younger visitors also enjoy the farmyard and adventure playground and the 1000 acre park is open every day.

Chatsworth hosts a wide variety of events including the international horse trials, RHS Flower Show, country fair and Christmas market; and from November each year, the house is transformed for Christmas. In addition to a busy events programme, the house features various exhibitions included in the price of admission.
