A working estate on ancient farmland, with the Pennyman family home at its heart, is the last surviving historic estate in Middlesbrough. The 400-year-old estate has had many owners, from the scandalous Sir James Pennyman, the 6th baronet, to the generous Ruth and Jim.
This year hear stories of family illnesses and discover how James Stovin Pennyman helped the wellbeing of the local community through the development of a cottage hospital. Visit the servants’ wing and working model railway layouts. Plus, enjoy a treat from the tea room before a stroll through the seasonal garden. Families can play in the natural play area, enjoy a game of croquet and have fun in the family room.
There is also a full events programme throughout the year.
