Wentworth Woodhouse Gardens

Historic Site/Structure, Attraction, Garden/Environmental Attraction, Food/Drink-Centred Attraction, Museum/Heritage/Gallery/Visitor Centre

The formal gardens at Wentworth Woodhouse feature herbaceous borders, stunning countryside views, and historic monuments such as the Punch Bowl, Ionic Temple and Ice House. Visitors can spot these beauties and much more on a guided walk, which also takes in the historic walled garden at Wentworth Garden Centre – once part of the main grounds and home to a maze, formal gardens, and a bear pit.

Families and garden-lovers alike can enjoy a day in the gardens and discover many hidden delights. Roam at your leisure – or follow a visitor’s route which begins at the Stables and takes in the West Terrace. Don’t miss the sweeping views from the Ha-Ha and South Terrace, and be sure to head to the Ionic Temple and Camellia House.

We welcome little explorers with their families to join garden lawn games and enjoy the picnic on our deckchairs. Well-behaved dogs are welcome too. Please note all dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.

This Autumn we invite families to take part in our October half-term garden trail. Seek out the hidden animals and learn more about our native species as you wander through the changing colours of the woods. Don't forget to pick up a delicious seasonal hot drink or a sweet treat!

Visitors enter the site in 30-minute time-slots to avoid queues and maintain safe social distancing. Toilets and hand-washing facilities are on site.
