Fun for the whole family, Ponderosa Zoo, based in Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire is home to over 120 animals. Visit the ring-tailed lemurs, spot the cheeky meerkats and meet a tortoise. From exotic animals to small mammals, birds and reptiles, there’s so much to see and explore.
Let your little ones run wild on the specially designed outdoor adventure playground. Watch them climb, jump, slide and swing as you relax at one of the many picnic benches overlooking the play area. Or, head to Ponderosa’s very own year-round beach to play on the pirate ship and in the sand.
After all the excitement why not visit the Coffee Shop for a drink and a bite to eat? With a range of sandwiches, scrumptious cakes and refreshing hot and cold drinks, it’s the perfect stop off to break up the day. Or maybe indulge yourself with a tasty frozen treat from the Ice Cream Parlour which has a delicious array of flavours on offer?
Passionate about promoting animal welfare, Ponderosa Zoo aims to educate visitors on conservation efforts and the threats many species now face in the wild. With most of its family of animals the result of rescue and conservation missions, preservation lies at the very heart of the zoo’s ethos.
