Overview & description

Farmers’ daughter Jacki Barlow founded Beacon Alpacas in 2009 on a purpose built farm set in the peaceful Hambleton Hills.

Beacon Alpacas breed Huacaya alpacas for their luxurious fleece, show winning alpacas for sale and pets with personality. We provide stud services to other owners and offer livery if necessary. We also offer help and advice for people wanting to start an alpaca business or to simply keep them for pleasure. We halter train our alpacas when they are weaned from their mothers at 6 months old, to be friendly, easy to handle, laid back alpacas!

One of the most popular alpaca activities for local people and visitors to Yorkshire is walking with alpacas in our beautiful countryside. We offer animal lovers who would like to meet our herd the chance to get up close and friendly with these fascinating creatures. More of a stroll with your alpaca around the farm and along the bridleways the walk offers wonderful views over the Vale of York and White Horse at Kilburn.

Alpacas, part of the Camelid family, originate in South America and are bred for their naturally soft, warm fleece, which can be made into a wide variety of products such as socks scarves, jumpers, throws and even carpets.

Children must be over 8 years old.
