Visit the former gardens of Noel Goddard Terry, of the famous York chocolate-making company on selected days. Booking isn’t always needed mid-week, but recommended to guarantee your space during the holidays.
Designed by George Dillistone, the five-acre garden complements the design of the house with yew-hedged garden rooms, herbaceous borders, bowling green, a wildlife and formal pond and plants for every season. A newly planted orchard overlooks the racecourse to the Terry factory clock tower beyond and sits alongside the small kitchen garden and historic greenhouse.
A small selection of refreshments are available to takeaway from the terrace to have as you explore or pause and watch the wildlife buzzing around.
Goddards is also used as a regional office for the National Trust and the house and indoor dining room remain closed. There is only accessible parking on site.
Head to the Goddards website where you will find everything else you need to know ahead of your visit.
