The 2019 Allied Air Forces Memorial Day will also mark the 75th anniversary of the D Day landings. A truly international event, we celebrate the unique relationship and cooperation that Allied Air Forces have established throughout military conflicts across the years, leading to the representation of many nations at this significant national memorial event, which grows in size and stature each year.
The event will feature a major Parade, led by the Yorkshire Military Marching Band, and comprising of members of various Service organisations, current serving personnel and Air Training Corps cadets. The Parade will lead to the Drumhead Service in the Main display hangar, set against the stunning backdrop of our famous Halifax bomber, “Friday the 13th”, followed by the poignant finale of the ‘Sunset’ Ceremony and Lowering of the RAF Ensign and the March Past with Salute taken by the senior attending dignitaries. So, we look forward to an exciting, colourful and memorable occasion once again.
