Doodle draw and mark-make in this monoprinting workshop exploring People Play.
A monoprinting workshop which aims to reflect Alice Irwin’s ideas around People Play. It will show movement, a vibrancy of colour and encourage enjoyment both in the making of the works and the visual impression they give. Participants will use simple cut out paper templates showing silhouettes of figures and silhouettes of old fashioned toys including skipping ropes, hoops and balls. The prints will be of adults and children in a variety of poses undertaking joyous activities, such as playing or dancing.
The monoprinting process will allows for the shapes to be repeated using different colours, reflecting Alices’s ideas and the sculptural forms. The repeated image will not only allow colours to blend but will also give an impression of movement, linking how people will walk around the figures and the speed of both the looms and the way people had to work.
