Amy Jeffs pays intimate attention to the medieval source manuscripts – each with their own quirks, agendas and embellishments – and brings these tales to vivid life, displaying the storytelling gift that kept our ancestors rapt by firelight. Storyland is replete with places known – places that can still be visited all over our ancient land – and characters half-remembered. These ancient stories of extinction, homeland, parenthood, rebellion, love, loss, magic and faith are retold with narrative flair, reimagined in stunning artworks and glossed with a rich and erudite commentary. Storyland is an utterly exceptional publication that will thrill all lovers of history, art, landscape and legend.
