We all know and love Louise Minchin on BBC One’s Breakfast over a slice of toast and a cup of tea, but did you know Louise holds a secret? She’s a triathlete, competing at a worldwide level. But it’s not always been that way!
Louise has worked with the BBC since 2006 and has seen it all: from World Cup coverage to the BBC News at One, making her one of Britain’s best-known broadcasters. Everything changed for her when a BBC Breakfast cycling stunt culminated in Louise Minchin wearing the colours of Great Britain at the World Triathlon Championships.
An inspirational love letter to the joy of competitive sport, Dare to Tri: My Journey from BBC Breakfast Sofa to GB Team Triathlete tells the story of how a tentative triathlete can become one of Britain’s best, encountering personal nerves, brutal training regimes and bicycle crashes along the way.
Louise will be appearing as part of the Raworths Harrogate Literature Festival. For more information about the full programme, visit the Harrogate International Festivals website.
