As a true Yorkshire man, Bradford born and bred, the local beauty of the northern landscape influences Danny. His many travels when he was writing songs and playing guitar in the rock band ‘The Hoover Dams’ also inspired him. His love of music meant he gigged at venues all over the UK, appeared on TV and found moderate success with the band until they split in 2010. Danny soon found he needed to fill his days with something different and instantly fell in love with art after his girlfriend bought him his first set of paints. This has now become the focal point of Danny's life filling the void that has been left by no longer playing music in a band.
Growing up in the eighties Danny is from a generation of kids that played out on the streets. It was a carefree time of innocence filled with fun and adventure. These memories of growing up bring elements of nostalgia into Danny's paintings; those childhood dreams that stay with you forever and special memories that are never forgotten.
Danny prefers to work with oils on board as this favours his ability to capture the many moods of the landscape and the magical 'skyscapes' that have become his signature style over the last few years.
Some of his inspiration comes from everyday life and his love for the surrounding environment. He finds beauty, emptiness, rawness and power in the natural world that many of us take for granted and he translates this to his work with an uncanny ability to transport you to somewhere strangely familiar and comforting.
Use your imagination and fall into Danny’s world. It’s a world where summer holidays lasted forever and the winter snowfalls were over the top of your wellies!
Danny will be with us at Heart Gallery Sunday 2nd July from 12pm - 4pm so do please join us and enter this magical world with him for the afternoon whilst enjoying a glass of wine.
