Holmfirth Arts Festival celebrates its 10th year in 2018, bringing a vibrant mix of creativity, art and entertainment to the flourishing market town of Holmfirth.
The festival may be small but it has big ambitions. Inspired by the landscape of the Pennines, its aim is to find new ways of celebrating the Holme Valley, its people and their stories.
The town’s many venues will buzz with live arts from comedy and music to theatre and storytelling with other events taking place in the many parks around the centre. Outdoor spaces will be filled with street theatre whilst the commissioning of new work gives the event its unique appeal.
Community participation creates the heart of the festival and this year the town will showcase Holmfirth’s creativity and community spirit by, once again, playing, host to a spectacular Carnival Parade, in collaboration with Handmade Parade.
The festival will be organising free workshops in the run up to this event and offering around 300 community participants the opportunity help make some of the fantastical costumes which will appear at the event. The festival logo, a swallow, will be reflected through the theme of flight chosen for this year’s parade.
So find out more by visiting www.holmfirthartsfestival.co.uk and follow the swallow to find us in June.
