Christopher Stokes, organist at Manchester Cathedral since 1992, has chosen a programme in two halves; the first French, the second English. One piece to note is the Suite Laudate Dominum by Peter Hurford, who died in March 2019. Peter Hurford is best remembered for his recordings of Bach, but his few compositions for organ and for choir are extremely fine.
Franck: Choral in E
Alain: Variations on a theme of Clément Jannequin
Couperin: Three movements from Messe pour les Couvents
Hurford: Laudate Dominum
Thalben-Ball: Tune in E
Elgar: Sonata in G (first movement )
