PLEASE NOTE:

Please check websites of all organisations or businesses before you visit. With the current Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, many businesses are changing their opening hours.

The School of Human and Health Sciences at the University of Huddersfield presents a special event with HLF Festival Patron, Lemn Sissay, at which he will read extracts from and talk about his critically acclaimed, bestselling book: My Name Is Why: A Memoir. Lemn’s story is a celebration of the redemptive power of creativity, from one of the nation’s best-loved poets.

As part of the Festival project, The Creative Mind, this event will also feature the unfurling of a specially commissioned handmade banner featuring a quote from Lemn Sissay. A partnership project between the Festival, the One World Craft Group of refugees and Woven Festival, The Creative Mind explores ideas around creativity and mental wellbeing.

Lemn’s quote will also feature in a film commissioned by the Festival and Words in Mind (a Kirklees bibliotherapy project), and created by Fettle Animation. The Creative Mind animated film weaves quotes from six authors and poets celebrating the power of creativity to inspire us and improve our lives.
