Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas
Monday, 29th November 2021, 6.30pm
Join us at The Garden Rooms for a night of incredible music from the Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas this November. The night will feature a lively mix of Western and Nepali music, with the famous Kukri dance and music of the Pipes and Drums.
The Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas is internationally renowned, performing in the past 18 months alone in Brunei, The Falkland Islands, Nepal, Afghanistan and Estonia. It is a great privilege to have them at Tennants for their first public performance in Yorkshire. We very much look forward to their eclectic programme, featuring both western and Nepali music and the famous ‘Kukri Dance’ presented with the energy, enthusiasm and warmth which only Gurkhas can create.
This charity concert will raise funds to support The Gurkha Welfare Trust which provides vital support to Gurkha veterans, their families and communities in Nepal. They enable people to live with dignity by delivering essential financial and medical aid and work with local communities to provide access to clean water and education. Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world with no NHS, no welfare system and is subject to an annual monsoon season, landslides and the risk of earthquakes. The immediate aim of this concert is to raise money towards the provision of clean water and sanitation for the 162 residents of the village of Syange in the Kaski region of Nepal.
