Marathon Du Malton 2020
Britain's Tastiest 10K
Sunday 30 Aug 2020
Inspired by the Marathon Du Medoc in France's wine region, this gourmet food and wineathlon goes through an area of Yorkshire famous for its award-winning local produce and spectacular countryside.
Starting and finishing in Malton's pretty market place, there will be ten food and drink stops around the pretty 10k course. Runners are encouraged to take their time, pace themselves and enjoy the party atmosphere, fancy dress and gourmet food stops.
* 'Elite' entry - For those serious runners who are just into getting their best time. With no food & drink included.
* 'Classique' entry - This is the main event and exactly the same as last year. Entrants are encouraged to pace themselves, take their time and enjoy the gourmet food & drink stops plus the party atmosphere!
* 'Escargot' entry - For those who prefer just to walk and enjoy the food and drink at a more leisurely pace. Perfect for a relaxed family group of all ages!
On offer will be local specialties like award-winning craft beer and wine, miniature Yorkshire puddings with roast beef, macarons from the UK pastry champion and even pan fried grouse on toast!
The race starts and finishes in the market place of Malton where a party atmosphere will be created with runners and families in fancy dress.
For family members not taking part in the 10k the Street Food Sunday event will be taking place in Malton at the same time with the start/finish line right alongside the pop-up picnic area.
Tickets are on sale now!
In previous years, tickets have sold very quickly so don't delay in booking your place. Numbers are strictly limited because we need to organise catering for all the food and drink stops along the course.
The course is a mix of urban and rural landscapes, so may not be suitable for all. However one team helped one of their members with a cast on her leg complete the course in a wheelchair by lifting the chair over the kissing gates while she hobbled through the gates. Another couple completed the course with a runners buggy and several runners were accompanied by their dogs (on leads).
If you are in any doubt as to the amount of fun had by all taking part then just look online #marathondumalton
