One of Europe’s most authentic and spirited blues and jazz piano players, Dom Pipkin brings his acclaimed one-man show to Masham, a rollercoaster ride through the rich world of New Orleans, featuring astonishing stories and some truly breathtaking piano - the type Jools Holland can only dream about!
A man, a piano, a glass of bourbon and a panama hat, Dom conjures up technicolour images of New Orleans life – love, sex and tragedy, barrelhouses and brothels, voodoo spells and Mardi Gras Queens, and a full moon rising over the Mississippi.
Pipkin has performed extensively in New Orleans, and shared stages with boogie-woogie legends Allen Toussaint, Dr John, and Screamin’ Jay Hawkins. He has recorded and toured with Paul Weller, Paloma Faith, David Byrne, John Newman and Laura Mvula among many others and has dozens of radio and TV appearances to his credit.
Five minutes into this show, you'll forget the winter's night in Masham and be sipping bourbon in a speakeasy on the Delta.
“I can’t hold a candle to this guy. He’s a great piano player” – Jamie Cullum, live on Radio 2
