Overview & description

Faramach is a band of teenagers from Woodmill High School in Dunfermline. When the Scottish f ocus in the curriculum coupled with an undeniable wider social awareness of national identity, an environment was created an environment where Scottish arts could flourish.

The band was "born" in October 2014 after a teacher felt there was a passion in the school for Celtic music. Most of the band had never experienced traditional music before, but they took to it immediately and now having toured Scotland and Nova Scotia they are setting their sights on Yorkshire.

The band's name itself was suggested by a first year pupil at Woodmill High. From over 200 suggestions "Faramach" was decided as the best (it means "noise making" in Gaelic).

The band combine a genuine love and passion for Celtic music with their unique youthful energy; expect a joyful and uplifting evening showing how traditional music is dancing into a new generation.
