Please check websites of all organisations or businesses before you visit. With the current Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, many businesses are changing their opening hours.

As part of the Selby 950 programme, celebrating 950 years since the founding of Selby Abbey, we are creating a pop-up museum in Selby Abbey. Selby Treasures shows a specially assembled collection of personal memories and historic objects from Selby people.

Created by curator Michala Pearson and artist Simon Grennan, this temporary museum of Selby shows treasures old and new, including Selby artefacts on loan from other regional museums and local archaeological finds. Much of the content was gathered through pop up museum events in shops, libraries, workplaces and community group workshops, and the people who brought their objects and their stories are as much part of the exhibition as the objects themselves – with new drawings by Simon Grennan.

We have put together a museum-quality exhibition to run in the Abbey from 25 Jan - 9 February 2020.

Our Curator, Michala Pearson, will be running a timetable of events and workshops to coincide with the exhibition on certain days, including an Archaeological Talk, Show & Tell, Walk & Talk, Objects & Archives and a dedicated BSL Walk & Talk session.

Selby Treasures is FREE to attend and will be open every day from 25th January until Sunday 9th February, between 9am and 4pm.
