Classic car enthusiasts and members of the public will have the chance to witness a world-first as the annual Figaro Owners Club rally comes to the Yorkshire Dales at the beginning of June.
The Yorkshire Dales rally has attracted record numbers with 59 Figaro owners from all over the UK and Europe coming to stay at the Rendezvous Hotel in Skipton during 1st-4th June 2017.
With the route and timetable available so the public can plan where to see the spectacle, the rally takes in a whistle-stop tour of some of the UK’s most magnificent scenery. The three days of convoy driving traverses the Yorkshire Dales National Park, exploring the Southern Dales to take in parts of Wharfedale, Nidderdale, Coverdale, Wensleydale, Littondale, Malhamdale, Ribblesdale and The Three Peaks.
The distinctively cute retro cars never fail to raise a smile and The Figaro Owners Club hope Yorkshire residents and visitors alike will enjoy the spectacle as the pastel procession makes its way through the dales.
The Yorkshire Dales rally is hosted by local sunny yellow Figaro owner, Jane Ellison-Bates and her partner Mark Bamforth, who attended previous annual club rallies in Holland, Scotland and Belgium.
Jane explains “We’re used to people stopping to wave and smile when they see our rallies and I’m hoping that our Club members will get a real Yorkshire welcome here with lots of waving as we pass. Driving on some of the challenging routes that first attracted the Tour de France cyclists to Yorkshire, the driving will certainly be a contrast to the lowlands of Holland and Belgium”.
Only 20,000 Figaros were ever manufactured, back in 1991. Made by Nissan in Japan there was such a demand for them that a lottery was held and only those with winning tickets could purchase the cars which were the first to have a CD player as standard and were luxuriously equipped with leather seats, air conditioning, an open roof and bags of style, in line with their branding theme of ‘Back to the Future’.
