A star-filled sky is one of nature’s most natural wonders! But they’re become harder than ever to experience. In an urban area you’ll be lucky to see 20 stars on a clear night but in an area of low light pollution, such as The Tan Hill Inn (a registered Dark Sky Discovery Site), you could see thousands twinkling above you – including The Milky Way which is visible to the naked eye!
Join astronomers from Go Stargazing for an evening exploring the fabulous dark skies above the world famous Tan Hill Inn. Taking place as part of the National Parks Dark Skies Festival 2020 you’ll enjoy a laser guided tour of the constellations and observe distant galaxies, nebulae, star clusters using powerful telescopes.
There’ll be an introductory presentation on astronomy and, if the weather is poor, you’ll be shown how you can find your way around the night skies yourself using planetarium software. Why not arrive early and enjoy a hearty meal and perhaps stay over to maximise your dark sky viewing!?
