Move It!

Inspire the family this October half term at National Railway Museum, with hands-on activities located among engineering giants that changed the world.

New for 2021 experience Move It! This October half term, join us and think like an engineer as we explore how the railways are designed to get things moving! Get inventive with LEGO design and building activities and explore the challenges faced by engineers past, present and future.

Get hands-on and creative with LEGO by overcoming obstacles and taking part in a range of exciting challenges.

Put your building skills to the test as you design and create your own railway bridge using sustainable materials and investigate its strength on our earthquake machine. Will your bridge survive?

Hop aboard our Miniature Railway for a little taste of train travel—or for the full-size experience explore Station Hall and Great Hall which are packed with the giants of the railways including our superstars Mallard and Rocket.

Re-live Mallard’s record-breaking run on the Mallard Experience, before recharging with delicious treats, snacks and hot meals in our restaurant or café. Further treats and gifts for loved ones can be found in our shop.

Children with energy to burn will enjoy our under-5s play area and outdoor play area.

The museum is open 10am to 5pm every day in half term. Book your free admission tickets now via our website.
