The North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales are joining forces to create their fourth annual Dark Skies Festival which will celebrate the stunning night time skies around the local area. To mark the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing, Dark Skies Festival 2019 will focus on our lunar satellite and will take place between 15th February and 3rd March 2019 with various events and activities taking place all over the moorland, dales, coast and Howardian Hills.
Join Castle Howard on the opening night of the festival and be spellbound by Dr Tim O'Brien of the University of Manchester's Jodrell Bank Centre of Astrophysics. Join the award winning astronomer for the engaging talk on astronomy and the night sky, plus you'll get the chance to ask him all your unanswered questions.
Suitable for keen astronomers and those with a general interest in dark skies. The talk will begin at 7pm in Castle Howard's Grecian Hall, lasting approximately 45 minutes with questions and answers to follow.
