Art, meet the future.
The countdown has begun to the second biennial York Mediale, an international festival of media and digital arts.
Leading artists from across the globe will gather in our historic city to present extraordinary exhibitions, world-premiere performances and cutting-edge technology; a city-wide celebration of York as the UK’s first and only UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts.
The festival will begin activity in York very soon, with the culminating celebrations taking place over four days, 21 – 25 October.
Ambitions for the festival are high, with the inaugural Mediale presenting artists including Suzanne Ciani, Beatrice Dillon, Moses Boyd, Kamaal Williams and Deep Lab.
Headline events for 2020 are set to be announced in the spring, with the full programme released in early summer.
York Mediale is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, and Make it York.
