The Barn Coffee Shop at Blacker Hall offers fresh, seasonal, local food every day using produce sourced largely from the Farm Shop - from their own expert butchers, bakers, local growers and producers. They use this to create delicious, seasonal menus, serving Breakfast, Lunch and Tea, including traditional Cream Tea and Afternoon Tea.
The award winning, family run Farm Shop and Coffee Shop at Blacker Hall are located less than a mile from junction 39 of the M1, towards Denby Dale, and within 10 minutes of the world famous Yorkshire Sculpture Park and acclaimed Hepworth Gallery.
All of the food in the Coffee Shop is expertly prepared using fresh, local produce largely from the Farm Shop, with menus changing seasonally. All of the meat is locally reared, either on the family’s farm or other great local farms, and desserts, freshly baked cakes, biscuits and pastries are homemade in the Blacker Hall Bakery.
Breakfast is served daily, from 8.30am to 11.30 Monday to Saturday and from 9.00am on Sundays. The breakfast menu features the Butchery’s homemade and award winning sausages and dry cured bacon, as well as homemade toasted granola with yoghurt and fresh berries, farmhouse porridge and freshly baked pastries.
Lunch is served from 11.30am Monday to Saturday and from midday on Sunday, with last orders 30 minutes before closing. The lunch menu consists of lighter meals, such as Superfood Salad, main lunches that include Char-grilled Rump Steak and a Yorkshire Tasting Board, including home reared and homemade roast ham, and award-winning Steak burger with Swiss Gruyére Cheese. In addition to this, there is also a wide selection of hot and cold sandwiches, and daily specials.
The Sunday lunch special includes a choice of two Roasts, with one always being Blacker Hall’s award-winning Rump of Beef. These are served from midday until 4.30pm every Sunday.
Traditional Cream Tea and Afternoon Tea are served all day, every day. Cream Tea is perfect as a mid-morning bite and includes a freshly baked scone from the Bakery, served with clotted cream, seasonal berries and a pot of tea or filter coffee.
Afternoon Tea includes a selection of open sandwiches with a fruit scone, Chantilly cream and strawberry jam, along with petit fours of the Bakery’s handmade desserts, again served with a pot of tea or filter coffee…and the option to buy a glass of Prosecco.
Afternoon Tea is £9.50 per person, and it’s possible to buy gift vouchers for one or two people, available from the Café, The Farm Shop or The Gift House.
The Barn Coffee Shop is child friendly, with an outdoor seating and playing area, perfect for fine weather days. There is a dedicated Children’s Lunch menu that includes chicken fillet goujons and award-winning traditional pork sausages, plus the Sunday roasts are also available in children’s portions.
Gluten free options are available across the menu, with gluten free cakes supplied by Proper Maid in Huddersfield.
