Le Cochon Aveugle is an award winning and critically acclaimed restaurant in the heart of York. Serving an everchanging, seasonal menu, this intimate dining experience is rooted in the Parisian Bistronomy concept of stripping back fine-dining to a more relaxed and informal setting, making the experience more fun and approachable.
This small, intimate restaurant is garnering much attention across the country, being Good Food Guide and Michelin recommended, as well as the restaurant coming in at an impressive Number 40 at the Harden's Top 100 Restaurants in the UK. At the helm is Josh Overington, who is absolutely resolute in his ambition to “become on of the best restaurants in Britain” and with national critic reviews and guest feedback alike raving over his food, he is well on track. Elite Traveller named Josh as one of their 7 Chefs to Watch for 2018 and he also represented the North East competing in BBC 2 Great British Menu series in 2017. Wife Victoria runs the front of house and wine operation, also having represented the North East and Scotland in wine competitions, with a very creditable National 2nd place in the 2017 Pol Roger Inter-Regional Blind Wine Tasting Competition. Josh believes he can only create his dishes by finding producers and farmers who share the same ethos and passion for their products.
It's simply about being able to show off and respect the very best ingredients available to him.
Diners get to eat a ‘blind’ tasting menu – a reflection of the restaurant’s name which means the blind pig. The surprise element of the menu is one of the many reasons people head to the restaurant. High quality ingredients are not often available in large quantities. Hence, the menu changes frequently – not only might you not get the same dishes one day to the next but it’s perfectly possible that you’ll get different food from the table next to you – it’s all entirely dependent on what’s available. The restaurant features an open kitchen, where you have first hand experience of watching a skilled team at work. For an even more intimate and interactive experience, you can dine at our Kitchen Counter, overlooking the kitchen and giving you the opportunity to speak with the chefs during your meal.
