The Curious Table gets it’s name from the table bases in this coffee shop. Eddie, the owner, sourced unique table bases from a local salvage yard and they are a great talking point. Having “upcycled” various items such as railway sleepers, Singer sewing machine bases, even an industrial pulley wheel, the theme works really well throughout.
As you’d hope and expect, the coffee is great. Locally roasted in York, it’s a unique blend developed by the team and is made even better by each coffee being served with a piece of amazing homemade brownies (and they’re gluten free!!).
The brownies are just the start of deliciousness! Start your day with a hearty breakfast such as smoked salmon and scrambled egg on doorstop toast or just a teacake. Mid morning snacks such as homemade scone, or just a simple “coffee and cake” feel like a real treat but wont break the bank! The lunch menu is the largest and really does cater for most tastes. From sandwiches, to platters, to healthy salads to warming chilli bowl, there really is something for everyone. Most dietary requirements can be catered for and the team always endeavour to have gluten free bread and quiche available.
If Coffee isn’t your thing then fear not, they also serve a range of loose-leaf teas and various soft drinks.
So whether it’s a quiet drink or a group catch-up, The Curious Table will ensure you leave satisfied and return time and time again!!
