The Deramore Arms

Pub/Inn

Description

Putting the community spirit back into the heart of our local pub, the Pinckney family and their team work hard to offer the whole community a warm and homely atmosphere, where you can enjoy quality food and drink throughout the day, including Yorkshire craft ales and gins. Our new extended Beer garden has the sun all day long until sundown, plus a covered eating area.

We balance the traditional with the contemporary to reflect the historic and culturally diverse community we serve. This unique beautiful semi - rural setting is next to both the University of York and the Science Park in close proximity to the town centre with good local transport connections but also a large car park to the rear of the pub.

We pride ourselves with our freshly cooked food: pub classics which include lunchtime sandwiches, salads, sides and snacks plus a daily Special’s Board. We always have some healthier options plus vegan/vegetarian dishes and many of our dishes have non gluten containing ingredients.

We open from 11 am, so those who enjoy a latte, cappuccino, Yorkshire tea fruit/herbal teas, hot chocolate and Yorkshire flapjack can call in, sit and read our papers or just chill and listen to our music. Where possible we use Yorkshire suppliers for all our food and drink and employ a great team of polite and cheerful staff from both our local community and university. Heslington is a conservation village on the outskirts of the city centre and attracts walkers, cyclists, nature lovers as well as locals attending university events plus families visiting students at the university.

A great cultural mix which creates a buzzing atmosphere on nights such as quiz, open mic, wine/beer/gin tasting events then also our monthly gathering such as Foreign Language meet ups, Knit and Natter and a Writer’s Club. The conservation area is a habitat to many interesting birds, animals, and flowers ( Heslington means” A place by the hazels” ) so really worth a visit.

The pub has some traditional indoor and outdoor games such as scrabble, drafts, giant jenga, Moellky etc. and books and newspapers to entertain adults and children alike in a calming atmosphere. Dogs are also always very welcome, regularly bringing their owners in to receive their treats!

Come and soak up a great homely atmosphere inside and out.
