Overview & description
The welcome is warm and couldn't be more genuine …The White Swan is the hub of village life as we welcome locals and visitors alike. Whatever age our customers are we try to look after them. We have highchairs for babies .colouring pencils and activity sheets for children and for the less active sloping walkways to make access easier. We support the village schools and sports teams as well as local charities.
This a very much a family pub and you can see Grandad Terry watching the racing and enjoying a dink with the locals ,Simon behind the bar and Simon’s daughter Ella tucking into one of her favourite Swan desserts.
Dogs are also welcome in the bar area and Rollo the cocker spaniel is very much a Sunday lunchtime regular.
We take great pride in offering space and catering for all events ranging from christening to funerals. From birthday parties, weddings, shoot parties and host award winning breakfast events for Ryedale. Offering menus to suit most dietary needs.
We support other local businesses and tradesman in the immediate area .
Our friendly staff are longstanding and live local have a good local knowledge of the area which is a great asset to visitors to the area. Even our book keeper only lived 2 miles away and the marketing person ,1 mile, both born and bred in the village.
Our USP is having 3 rooms creating a choice of where you feel the most comfortable. A quarry stones tiled bar with tables and stools ,a big screen tv ,a log fire and the chat and banter of the locals . A lounge bar, which too, has a bar area with more comfortable seating and dining area. French windows open on to a patio area where on warmer day customers can enjoy the sunshine and amazing views over the valley. Our third area is a cocktail bar leading to the more formal dining room with white linen table clothes and napkins. Ideal for special family occasions ,wedding and parties from christening to funerals. Our staff are long serving and work together as a team to give customers a warm welcome, a great experience in both locally sourced food and drink. We are happy to organise celebration cakes and surprises but also to display empathy at times when it is appropriate.
