Yorkshire is great! With rolling moors, vibrant cities, a stunning coastline, National Parks, World Heritage Sites and iconic scenery to discover, Yorkshire really is a land of possibilities.
However, whilst some may take a day out or holiday for granted, others may find exploring all that Yorkshire has to offer something of a challenge.
If you are one of the 13.9 million people in the U.K. with additional access requirements, having the right information in advance to help you plan your visit, along with the right facilities and services on site to help you have a great experience, is really important.
At Welcome to Yorkshire, we want everyone to be able to enjoy all that our wonderful county has to offer, which is why we are proud to launch Accessible Yorkshire.
Working in partnership with our amazing tourism venues and Access For All UK, our aim is to showcase the accessible accommodation, attractions, activities, festivals, experiences and ‘hidden gems’ that Yorkshire has to offer…..all in one place!
Whether you are looking for a wheelchair accessible holiday property, luxury spa or relaxed theatre performance you will find the information you need here, along with autism and dementia friendly venues, Changing Places hoisted toilets and places which excel in providing a warm welcome to people with vision and hearing impairments.
The information you see here is just the start. Over the next 5 years we will be working hard to gather and share information on accessible opportunities with you, our visitors, as well as providing training and guidance to our tourism businesses to support them in offering the warmest of welcomes for all.
Our long term goal is to be the most accessible tourism destination in the U.K., if not the world. This won’t happen overnight…..it’s a long road…….and we value your patience and support in helping us achieve this aim, so if you know of a great accessible venue that is not currently listed, please let us know!
So, with so many wonderful places to visit, great experiences to try, stunning scenery to enjoy and friendly people to meet, what are you waiting for? Why not browse the selection of venues we have put together, take a trip and make some special memories?
Welcome to a land of accessibility opportunities, welcome to ‘God’s Own County’, welcome to Accessible Yorkshire!

Greetings from the U.S.,
I am a disabled Senior and mobility scooter user. Also a solo traveler. I’ll be spending a few days in York in June. Can you recommend a tour company that offer accessible tours of the Downs? Thank you.
