Northern Powergrid

Northern Powergrid issued the following statement:

NORTHERN POWERGRID: WE’RE WATCHING A WEATHER FRONT AND ARE PREPARED TO RESPOND ACCORDINGLY

16:00 Wednesday 08 March, 2023.

The weather front we’ve been tracking for snow and ice is now expected to hit our region from 7am on Thursday through to 2pm on Friday. The latest Met Office update predicts a low risk of up to 10cm of snow and ice across the region, with the potential for 15-40cm of snowfall in elevated areas above 100 metres.

We have moved to the next stage in our response plan – we are ready to mobilise colleagues as this situation develops.

This weather front does have the potential to have an impact and cause damage to our network, so there is a possibility that there could be disruption to power supplies in at least some parts of the region.
