Lovely serene atmosphere. Architecturally unique with a Harrison Harrison organ to complete the package. Church of England with "High Church style" worship. That's not to say that the congregation aren't friendly and welcoming, far from it. There is a real warm feeling about the place.

A stunning church in Horbury near Wakefield. Definitely a place to visit just for its architectural design and beauty. Set in a quiet town like village of West Yorkshire. We were doing a garden tidy for the vicarage when I took this shot.

Visited as part of a wider tour round Horbury on Horbury Heritage Saturday. This annual event see's a number of interesting buildings opened up to the public. The church has a tea/coffee room where the Small crypt is also accessed via a hole in the floor. A degree of nimbleness is required but the space opens up a bit once you're in the room. There were several knowledgeable and helpful people on hand who gave a short history of the space and site. A short walk across the road along Tithe Barn street and you may spot a small two storey building on the North side of the road. This is the lock up or Kidcote. Again rarely open but well worth a look. Unfortunately I can't seem to add the place specifically, so I hope you don't mind me including a few images here...
