Without doubt it’s Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese that’s made this delightful corner of Yorkshire world-famous. And you can see this tasty export being made at the Wenselydale Creamery in Hawes – as well as enjoying a delicious slice or three! But then good food and great shopping can be found everywhere here. Be sure to pop into the pretty centres of Leyburn and Askrigg for arts, crafts, antiques and mouthwatering Yorkshire fare.

Wensleydale’s scenery is a feast for the eyes too! Walkers will love exploring the rolling green hills and tranquil wooded valleys. While trips to the impressive Aysgarth Falls and Hardraw Force – England’s largest single drop waterfall – are a must. You can also discover more about the area’s traditional way of life in the Dales Countryside Museum and National Park Centre.

If history is your thing, then you’re spoilt for choice in Wensleydale. Middleham Castle, Bolton Castle and Jervaulx Abbey all offer spectacular glimpses into the past as well as fun family activities like archery! Kids of all ages will also adore exploring the modern and mysterious labyrinth known as the Forbidden Corner – a strange place indeed!
