This car park is quite good and likely the most convenient option for parking in the center of Whitby. I have always used the Ringo app for payment, which has been a smooth experience. The main challenge is that it can become very busy and reach full capacity during the summer, so arriving early is advisable.
Absolute charlatans... After driving round and round and round with a lot of others trying to find a space, we eventually got parked. It took about half an hour of looking from one car park to the next. The only ticket machine at the Marina Back had a massive queue trying everything. Cash did not work. Cards did not work. Google Pay did not work. The app for RingGo charges you 90p. just to use it, then the parking charge on top. That did not work, but it took 90p every time we used it, so we were £2.70 down and no ticket. We abandoned this idea after 3 goes. It was only when the absolute legend of a gentleman that looks after the Coop car park informed us to walk all the way to the Information Centre and pay there. They only take CASH, by the way. They fixed our problem, but then we had to walk all the way back to the car to put the ticket in the car, or we would incur a fine. The lesson here is always to park with my man at the Coop car park. LESSON LEARNED.
Large car park that accepts card and ring go, but prices are on the steep side with just under £10 for 6 hours. However be warned on peak days you’ll be doing a good few laps around the car park before finding any spaces. Best to park on the outskirts and walk in
Easy parking no cash needed as you can use your phone and pay by phone. You get a txt reminder to say parking is running out. Very easy to add more time without having to go back to the car.
Plenty of options for spaces. The parking machine accepts card and cash but if using card, is ridiculously slow. £7.20 for four hours isn't too bad I suppose with the Whitby Tax taken into consideration
