Good location, only 5 minute walk into whitby, just a few steps to navigate to get into town and not wheelchair friendly. Nice walks to be had around the local area, particularly the Cleveland way and of course the obvious, Whitby Abbey! Not cheap.
First time I've used this carpark. You can get to the Abbey and the brewery very easily. The road upto the car park isn't very wide due to vehicles parking on and off the curbs. I had to try and get as close as possible to a fields metal gate so 2 buses could get passed. Very scary. Hardly any room for them to negotiate. Once in the carpark there is very much signage as to where to go. I looked around and watched where people were heading and followed them. Luckily for me it led down to the start of the cobbled entrance way to the main cobbled streets at the Shambles. Where my friend was able to locate me. There are lot's of steps down to negotiate. The good thing is in some area's there is both street lamps and benches, but this doesn't go all the way up. A torch is highly recommended. We had one phone torch which doesn't light up the area you are walking very well. The carpark is free of charge at the moment.
Great stop for the abbey ruins. Lots of space. Includes free ride to and from town in summer. Ends in August. Fee not unreasonable as it includes bus ride.
Great place to park with plenty of spaces right next to Whitby Abbey. Great views of Whitby Abbey and about a 10-minute walk to the 199 steps
I typically utilize this car park as an alternative when the marine back car park in the town center is unavailable. This car park offers ample spaces and convenient access to nearby restroom facilities. My primary concern, however, arises during periods of rain, as the car park can become quite muddy, and the presence of significant potholes may pose a challenge for standard vehicles. SUVs and larger vehicles are unlikely to encounter similar difficulties. Additionally, its considerable distance from Whitby town is a notable drawback.
