The food was absolutely delicious, with an authentic Greek taste that reminded me of home. The sausage from Corfu was the highlight, flavorful and perfectly prepared, just like homemade. The service was excellent, and the waitress was incredibly friendly and attentive. I fully recommend this place for a genuine Greek dining experience!

I was excited to try this place after hearing good things, but came away quite disappointed actually. The food itself was rather bland. The starters were fine, but we were really let down by the mains. I had kleftiko which was basically just a lamb shank cooked in a dish with some chunks of potato, carrot and green pepper - very little in the way of seasoning apart from oil and salt, and no sauce to speak of. A few members of the party had moussaka which again was bland with very little seasoning/spices apart from salt. I also had a Greek salad on the side, the tomatoes were pale and mealy with no flavour. Some members of the party had the mixed grill which they enjoyed. At no point though did I get the sense that this was authentic greek food or made with high quality ingredients, and it became clear that none of the staff are Greek so it seems an odd choice to open a greek restaurant - a cuisine that is all about authentic, hearty home cooked food. The staff who served us were polite and food came out reasonably quickly, however it felt disorganised overall and communication was an issue, I felt that one staff member in particular unfortunately didn't understand English very well, getting our drink order incorrect initially. We arrived a little early for our booking, but were told that they couldn't accommodate us before our booking had started despite every table except one being empty up until we arrived. We were also told that we had only two hours because of another party arriving, but there seemed to be no rush to clear our plates or bring us the bill after we had finished, the aforementioned staff member actually blanked us when we asked for the bill. It wasn't until the next party did arrive that we were then very quickly rushed to pay and leave - I don't know what would have happened had we ordered dessert! Strangely, we observed quite a few groups try to get a walk-in table turned away because they were apparently fully booked, however the restaurant was never more than half full. On the whole, quite a disappointing and inauthentic experience.

We booked dinner for 5. Everyone loved the food 😋 It was all delicious. We didn’t have to wait long and the staff were lovely. I’d recommend Wine Stories and will eat there again next time I’m in York ❤️

Absolutely brilliant! It’s cash only but there’s an ATM next door. The food is amazing, the wine is great and the service and ambiance are perfect. I took a friend before the theatre but it’s perfect for a date or a big group as they do these big sharing platters as well as their main menu dishes.
