Vue Cinema York

Review is mainly of Vue Ultra Lux seats but also their cleanliness at this cinema - Not worth the extra money Seats at this Vue share one table per 2 seats (normal seats have 1 per seat) & only 1 drinks cooler per 2 seats (annoying buzz from cooler & lights up blie distracting you / others). The seats at this particular cinema had not been cleaned - this is the second time I experienced this here. The first was put down to a one off but second was just annoying. Popcorn strewn all over the seat & all down between the cushion sides / back - see photos photos These seats are not cheap & it just is not the experience / cleanliness I would expect. As a side issue the floor around our particular seat at this cinema was requiring repair and had been ripped up and warning tape applied - again not the premium service Vue sells for these seats

I got an offer through Octopus for 2 tickets for £8 and then paid an additional £8 for premium seats. My order reference being WJF2WLL. We turned up for our film showing in the evening having driven 30 mins to get there to find it had been closed since mid afternoon due to toilet issues. The member of staff told us we would get a refund. We left and returned home having received no communication via email of the cancellation. Days later still no refund. I try to contact the cinema via online chat message with just an acknowledgement of my contact but nothing more. Days later I ring via elaborate call handling system of vue and obtain £8 refund. I received no further compensation for turning up on the night and being turned away. None for my time trying to get my £8 back. In summary the vue experience has been a complete waste of my time and I've had to pay £8 for the privilege. I accept the cinema needed to close but will think carefully about booking in the future as its an absolute pain trying to get your money back and the company make no effort to compensate for the hassle they are responsible for.

Great cinema - the best seats, comfortable, audio is great quality (maybe a fraction too loud in the mids at times). Nice staff. Queue when we arrived so we avoided getting snacks before the film. Listed start time to actual start time (adverts and trailers etc) length about 30 mins. Slushy machine disappointed my daughter as she used her own money to buy one and it was a sticky horrible machine and only one of the slushies actually came out frozen.

I visited on Saturday 3rd January with my 4 year old daughter, we bought food and drinks, upon entry to the screen we were told their was a fault they were trying to fix, 30 minutes later we were told they couldn't fix it. The manager promised everyone a refund and took all our details, 10 days later nothing received. Food, drink & 45 minutes drive wasted and now not even a refund for a film we didn't see!

I attended Mountains on Stage on 9th December. There was an interval but no lights were turned on until a couple of minutes before the second half started. At the end, again no lights were turned on whilst everybody left using tge torches on their mobile phones. Otherwise very comfortable.
