Tipple Tails fruit cakes, made in Sheffield by craft baker Jane Stammers, remind us of favourite pastimes, friends and family occasions, delicious food, summer afternoons and cosy winter evenings.

Tip over Tipple Tails is a Yorkshire phrase for a ‘head over heels’, a ‘backward flip’ or a ‘roly poly’, & conjures up images of childhood & innocent fun; the simple things in life. In Yorkshire, it is also used to describe a person who would bend over backwards to do something.

Jane has worked hard to source all the elements of her mouth-watering cakes from as close to her home at Wadsley Hall Farm in Sheffield as possible, using good ingredients & supporting local businesses to produce delicious moist fruit cakes, packed with fruit & nuts & infused with unusual tipples, made by a master infuser just a few miles from the farm kitchen – cake which is really worth eating!

Butter for the cakes is sourced from Longley Farm in Holmfirth, free range eggs from a few miles from home in Dunsford Bridge, & flour milled in Driffield by Bradshaws.  Vine & glace fruits, nuts, sugar & spice are sourced from Shepcote, a family wholesaler in Driffield & S Hukin, a very long established wholesale business in Sheffield.  Jane is using the delicious, unusual & award winning Boozy Infusion liqueurs to feed the cakes with, designed by Andy Gardiner from Beatson House Restaurant in Cawthorne, near Barnsley.

The fruit cakes are hand crafted with great care, big on flavour & really good to eat – just lovely, uncomplicated food.

There are four very more-ish cakes in the Tipple Tails boozy range, which are available in two sizes:

Ginger Tingle, awarded 2 Gold Stars in the Great Taste Awards 2014, and packed with Stem Ginger and Walnuts and infused in mouth tingling Jamaica Ginger Cake liqueur;

Cherry Orchard, awarded a Gold Star in the Great Taste Awards 2013, bursting with Almonds and Cherries and steeped in fragrant Cherry Bakewell Tart liqueur

Cinnamon Pippin, full of plump juicy Sultanas and Hazelnuts and spiced with tummy warming Cinnamon Apple Crumble liqueur

And the brand new Coco Bazaar, an exotic and luxurious Chocolate Fruit Cake, full of flavours of the east; Chocolate, Pistachios, Honey, Cardamom and plump juicy vine fruits, and laced with heady Rose Geranium & Turkish Delight Liqueur.

Total Fruit Cake No booze in this one but bursting with dates, apricots, nuts and vine fruits. The fruit is infused with Sheffield Honey and Birdhouse Tea Company ‘Full Monty’ tea – delicious, moist fruit cake, perfect to take on a bike ride or pop into your rucksack when you are out in the hills!
