On Saturday 13th May, Ilkley will play host to its first National Town Crier Competition with town criers from all across the country competing against each other to win prizes for Champion Cry, Best Dressed Crier and Best Dressed Consort.
The event is hosted by Ilkley’s Town Crier, Isabel Ashman, and Ilkley Business Improvement District.
Children from local primary schools will also be competing in a Junior Town Crier Competition to win a trophy on behalf of their school.
It will be quite the spectacle, bringing together town criers, residents, visitors, schools and businesses in this picturesque spa town.
