Set in seventy-seven acres of tranquil wooded parkland, Hazlewood Castle is steeped in a history of fortified knights pre-dating 1086. During its life Hazlewood has been the family home of the Vavasours, a Carmelite monks retreat and even a maternity hospital before opening its doors as a hotel in the late nineties.
Whilst retaining a relaxing, tranquil atmosphere in a historic setting, Hazlewood offers an inspiring venue for mid-week or weekend breaks as well as weddings, meetings and events all set in an exclusive estate in Yorkshire ideally located for York, Harrogate, Leeds and the East Midlands.
Thirty two luxury rooms and suites, individually designed and named after flowers or historic Hazlewood characters offer comfortable accommodation to our visiting guests, with views over the manicured gardens, the gallops, courtyard and ponds.
The Vavasour Restaurant offers an intimate dining experience serving delicious seasonal fayre accompanied by a fine selection of wines, including our families own award winning label. You can hone your cooking skills with one of our Cookery Masterclasses with Head Chef Tim Hamer, held on select dates throughout the year.
On site Imagine spa offers a mud serail chamber, an extensive range of spa treatments, relaxation suite and during the summer months why not enjoy an afternoon tea in a private bell tent.
Down in the woods you can enjoy quad biking, archery, shooting and paint balling to name but a few with the Live for Today adventure team, newly appointed this year are our glamping cabins and bell tents and coming soon wild hammocks for you to sleep under the stars, a real back to nature treat!
For Weddings, The Castle offers 4 function suites licenced for civil ceremonies, in additional to the Garden Pagoda situated in the Cherry Blossom avenue and the woodland Pagoda overlooking the trickling waterfall at our Woodland Wedding venue.
