Shopping - Our gift shop offers a range of items for visitors to take home to commemorate their visit or as a gift for friends or family. We stock a range of books, toys, greetings cards, locally produced food and drink, as well as quality local hand-crafted items. All profits from the shop are used to support the Museum’s charitable activities.
Eating, Drinking & Exploring - There is a choice of fantastic tearooms and a great local pub in the village, supplying everything from a quick cuppa to a tasty two-course meal. Once you’ve purchased your ticket, you have the freedom to come in and out of the Museum, enabling you to enjoy refreshments or time exploring the village.
Getting Here - We are located in the village of Hutton-le-Hole, on the road from Kirkbymoorside that runs over ‘Blakey Ridge’ to Castleton. We are two miles north of the main A170 road between Helmsley and Pickering. The Museum is less than an hour’s drive from Whitby, York, Scarborough and Middlesbrough and around a one and half hour drive from Leeds and Hull.
Access - Ryedale Folk Museum is a large open-air site with historic buildings. Whilst almost all of our site is at ground level, access some of our paths are uneven by their nature and there are one or two steps in and out of several buildings. Assistance dogs (and other dogs) on leads are welcome throughout Museum, including within the buildings.
For more information on access, including prices for disabled visitors and free wheelchair or mobility scooter hire, please see the Museum’s website or call 01751 417367.
