Getting to Yorkshire from Overseas

Served by a wide range of rail, sea, and air links, Yorkshire is one of the most accessible regions within the UK.

Air

The Yorkshire region is served by three airports, providing daily flights to and from many destinations. With excellent transport links, Yorkshire is also easily accessible from many other airports throughout the UK, through high speed train links and an extensive motorway network.

Additionally, within an hour’s drive, and a relatively short and comfortable train ride, you can find a major international airport at Manchester Airport, as well as a small, friendly, airport at Newcastle Airport.

Manchester Airport

Manchester is a good place to target if you’d also like to take in the Lake District – though hiring a car would be highly advantageous for a visit of this nature. The TransPennine train service runs from Manchester to most of Yorkshire, which can be reached in 45 minutes on the Western side.

Newcastle Airport

Newcastle is worth a visit too, with it’s iconic quayside and compact, friendly city centre. Visitors wishing to travel to Yorkshire by train may enjoy spending some time in Newcastle – which is a Metro (train) ride away from the airport, then connecting through to York or Leeds via Newcastle Central Station.
