The Stokesley Fish Shop & Diner

Takeaway, Restaurant

Description

We are based on the High Street in the lovely market town of Stokesley, on the edge of the North York Moors, and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. It’s a delightful town with a lot to offer, and a lovely place to visit on days out.

The building has been a fish and chip shop for many years with different owners along the way.

With new owners taking over this popular fish and chip shop, in mid 2013, it was given a complete refurbishment and brought into the 21st century with a twist. It still offers the traditional fish and chips and now has a 1950’s American Diner themed restaurant attached.

The fish shop serves what have fast become known as some of the best fish and chips in the area. Offering cod as the traditional, and most popular, fish for the area it also offers haddock, scampi, fishcakes and many other options. Serving fish from sustainable sources, and MSC certified, whenever possible together with chips made from the best local potatoes. Our steak pies come from the popular Petch’s Butchers, based in the nearby village of Great Ayton.

We serve our fish and chips in good quality cardboard boxes with the fish and chips separated to keep them fresh and the batter crispy.

We always have special ‘Meal Deals’ available in the takeaway and restaurant.

The Stokesley Diner (our attached restaurant) offers breakfast options and coffee etc. from 9am and then, from 11am, all of our fish dishes together with burgers and hot dogs served the American Way. The burgers are provided by our local butcher, handmade just for us, and served in a brioche bun with onion, salad and a variety of dips. Hot dogs are also a popular option with both young and older diners. You can then chose from traditional fish shop chips or skinny fries (our sweet potato fries are popular too!). What better accompaniment that a milkshake or ice cream float.

Our coffee is the famous Italian ‘Kimbo’ brand (as used by Jamie Oliver in his restaurants – but we offered it first!) and our tea is, of course, Yorkshire Tea.

Our restaurant is licensed and seats around 45 diners – with a room upstairs which can be booked for parties etc. A great friendly, family run place to meet up with friends and family and enjoy a meal. We have outside seating available aswell for all of our customers to use.

Our juke box is a popular addition to the fish shop, and the music that it plays stirs up many happy memories for our customers. So why not pay us a visit and sit back and enjoy the music whilst we prepare our famous fish and chips for you?

Gluten Free

We offer Gluten Free fish and chips, and other items, all of the time for a small additional charge. Our chips are cooked in vegetable oil and therefore suitable for vegetarians.

When the sun is shining we find ourselves busy selling ice cream – both the lovely ‘whippy’ ice cream (with a 99 flake!) and our ‘Ciccarelli’ Italian Gelato Ice Cream aswell.

We pride ourselves on serving good quality food, that offers value for money too, and all of our staff take great pride in offering the very best service. Our staff are trained to the level required for their role and their food hygiene qualifications are all City & Guilds accredited.

Both the takeaway and restaurant are open everyday (excluding Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day).

Event Catering

We also have mobile fish and chip catering trailers so we can provide fish and chips for weddings, parties, events etc. at the various venues around the country.

We are registered with Hambleton District Council, Environmental Health Department, and have been awarded a 5 Star Food Hygiene Rating.

We are also members of the National Federation of Fish Fryers (NFFF), Nationwide Caterers Association (NCASS) and The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB).
