Babylon (18)

Babylon is an ancient city located in present-day Iraq, known for its impressive architecture and rich history. It was once the capital of the Babylonian Empire and is famous for its Hanging Gardens, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Interestingly, there is a connection between Babylon and Yorkshire, as the famous British author J.R.R. Tolkien was inspired by the city’s name when creating the character of Gandalf in his beloved novel, The Lord of the Rings. Tolkien was born in South Africa but spent much of his childhood in Yorkshire, where he developed a love for language and mythology that would shape his writing career.
