Terry Harrington Craftsman & Furniture Maker was born and raised in Askrigg, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Upon leaving school, he undertook a five-year apprenticeship in cabinet making at the world-famous Robert Thompsons (known as ‘The Mouseman’) in Kilburn, where he stayed for 22 years. He believes in making furniture to the highest standards using the finest materials and constructed with traditional techniques – joints are made with mortice holes and tenons, glued and fixed with oak dowels – the items you buy from him will last you a lifetime!
Since 2012, he has been making his own bespoke pieces, each one handcrafted in oak and embellished with a hand-carved ram’s head, his logo as a sign of quality and individuality. The idea of the ram’s head came from growing up in the Yorkshire Dales – another regular sight, the drystone walls, are also incorporated into some of his small gifts too. Terry has a wide range of items, ranging from large dining suites and dressers to small gifts and presents. They can be made bespoke to your own needs and specifications and he also offers a refurbishment service to restore your existing items of furniture too.
Terry Harrington offers a wide selection of gifts and homeware, all handcrafted with his distinctive Yorkshire theme. The ram’s head features in all his items, both large and small – it’s this attention to detail that really sets his gifts apart. From everyday items such as fruit/nut bowls, chopping boards and picture frames, to special pieces such as jewellery boxes, letter racks, moneyboxes and tealight holders – plus, of course, his bespoke service. If you have an idea for that extra special gift, he can make it a reality.
Since January 2017 Terry has opened a small showroom at his home in Spennithorne to allow customers to come and visit him there as well as the many shows he stands at throughout the year. Both his wife and his two children are seen regularly at these events helping Terry display his beautiful work firmly defining this is as a family run business. The showroom is open by appointment only. Each piece of furniture is designed to fit perfectly into your life, unlike the mass-produced market. This is bespoke furniture.
