Creative Arts Hub
About
Description
Originally an Art Deco cinema built in the 1930’s, Creative Arts Hub is an exciting transformation of what had been a night club into a fresh and exciting space with 17 artists’ studios and a large gallery.
Built from the vision and hard work of artist, sculptor, exhibitions co-ordinator and local all-round good guy Mark Milnes, the Hub has become a well-loved and appreciated resource by the people of Kirklees.
Children’s workshops/ activities invigorate the space every week; Saturdays in term time and Wednesdays and Fridays in school holidays. Adult workshops are also a regular feature, with tapestry weaving, alternative floristry and stained glass examples of the breadth of choice on offer.
We’ve also our annual Open Weekend (when you can explore everywhere, including all the artists’ studios) and our quarterly Art and Craft Fairs.
For a special crafty treat try us for unique birthday parties for adults or children.
Our exhibition programme in the last year has included Yorkshire Sculpture Group, a retrospective of William Jordan, specially commissioned work of Fabric Lenny and much much more.
Mirfield itself is full of hidden treasures, with delightful places to shop, explore and eat, we’d particularly recommend The Railway and Ravello’s (where you can see more of our artists work on show… and only 5 minutes’ walk away)
